So many social sites so little time.
I like many other social marketing butterflies am in many different places so as to make new friends (and I have some great ones now) and to add contacts for business sharing. One thing I tell people when they first join any social site is to make sure they do their profile or profile page before they do anything else.
Some people will come to say hi once only so you need to make an impact pretty fast.
One thing I think is important, is to make yourself known via blogs or forums or adding value anyway you can.The more well known you get the more people will start to take notice of you.
So choose a couple of places to get started even if you add the same blog to both as long as its seen its great.
www.ning.com is a great place to go there are hundreds if not thousands of different groups you can join from A-Z.
From craft to music to fanclubs etc no matter what you put in there to search for I am sure you will find it.I am in many that are business related but play at a couple others I have interest in.
I have gained some great friends thru this type of exposure many of us share and join businesses with each other often.
Ning is free so is a very popular vehicle to use and is very simple to do if you want to ever create your own.
Other free social sites (and there are many) are facebook, myspace, twitter and so on and then you get the ones that are free to join and are upgradeable so the more people that join and upgrade under you the more money you make.I am nit a huge fan of these types as there are so many promising so much but not performing so I dont overly advertise them too much.
These are some places I am in
Swom
Facebook (been around for ages very popular and worth joining is free)
Twitter (very popular for letting people know what you up to quickly)
